1 Allowed categories
Developers need to apply for categories that match the services provided by their Mini Programs. This helps avoid issues such as code review rejections or non-compliance with category requirements after the Mini Program is launched.
According to laws, regulations and platform management requirements, categories requiring qualifications must have the necessary documents submitted for review and approval before they can be applied successfully. Categories without qualification requirements become effective immediately upon selection.
The allowed service categories for Mini Programs may change in response to relevant policies, laws, and platform requirements. Developers should refer to the materials required at the time of submission. The allowed categories are as follows:
1) Allowed Categories for Mini Programs of Non-Chinese Mainland Entities:

2) Allowed Categories for Mini Programs of Chinese Mainland Entities:

2 Configuration process
1) Mini Program developers should select the appropriate category based on their service content. If a category requires qualifications, prepare the relevant documents in advance and ensure they are valid (preferably with more than 6 months before expiration) to avoid rejection during category review due to expired or non-compliant qualifications. For specific qualification requirements, see 4.1.1 Allowed categories.
2) Log into the Mini Program console by scanning the QR code on Weixin Official Accounts Platform Navigate to "Homepage -> Mini Program Category -> View Details", click "Add Category", select an appropriate category, and upload supporting qualification documents.
3) The typical review time for qualified categories is 1-7 days. However, it may be extended in cases of high review volume or complex content. If you need urgent processing and have expedited quotas, you can select the "Expedited Review" option when selecting a category requiring submission of qualification documents.
Note: The expedited channel is available only for Chinese mainland non-individual entities. For more information on the expedited review channel, see Official Announcement: Expedited Review Channel for Mini Program Categories Now Open.
4) A Mini Program can select up to 5 service categories, with 5 modifications allowed per month. To support business expansion, developers who meet certain conditions can apply for more categories via "Homepage -> Mini Program Category -> View Details." Conditions for applying for more categories include:
a) At least one of the five Mini Program categories must be a qualified category.
b) The Mini Program must have at least 100 daily visitors over the past 7 days.
c) No violations in the past 3 months.
d) There are available slots to add service categories this month.
Note: If any false qualification documents are submitted during the review, the platform may impose restrictions or even cease providing related services, depending on the severity of the violation. Legal actions may be pursued for any illegal activities.
